Zambia Summer 2012
Spark Ventures would like to invite you and your family and friends on an exciting journey this July to Zambia to visit our partner organization, Hope Ministries. You can learn more about the trip below or by downloading our full Partnership Trip Brochure here.
Dates
The Zambia Summer 2012 trip will run from July 15 to July 21 or 23. Those who join Spark for the optional two-day extension in Livingstone will leave Zambia on July 23. These dates do not include travel time to and from Zambia.
Most flight itineraries will require you to depart on July 13 to arrive by July 15. Most return flights will return to the US on July 22 or 24, depending on if you take the two-day extension.
Costs
The Full Partnership Trip, including the optional two-day extension, costs $2,000. This includes all local transportation, meals, lodging and scheduled excursions.
Please note that international travel to and from Zambia (USA to Ndola, Zambia (NLA) and Livingstone, Zambia (LVI) to USA) is not included. Click here for more details on what the costs cover.
The Basic Trip, which does not include the optional two-day extension, costs $1,200. As with the full trip, this includes all local transportation, meals, lodging and scheduled excursions.

Trip Itinerary
Sunday, July 15- Travel Day: Arrive in Zambia (Most flights will depart from the US on Friday, July 13.)
Monday, July 16 - Partner & Programs: Learn about our partner and its programs as you meet with key Hope Ministries leaders, enjoy welcome programs with the children of Hope Community School and Hope House (orphanage), tour Hope Village and dine with Hope staff and the children they serve
Tuesday, July 17 - Mission & Model: Experience firsthand Spark's mission and unique model as you help with sponsorship updates, see Hope's progress through tours of its previous facilities and serve the meal program to the student of Hope Community School
Wednesday, July 18 - Culture & Context: Gain insight into the culture and circumstances in which the children live as you visit the Slave Tree, Kantolombo gravesite, important local historical sites and two local markets
Thursday, July 19 - Investment & Impact: See the impact that Spark and its investors are having on the children of Zambia as you spend time with the children and hear their stories of transformation in their own words
Friday, July 20 - Mission & Model: Drive to Lusaka to be among the first investors to tour the poultry farm that will allow Hope to be financially independent and discuss Spark and the plans for sustainable child programs as you dine with Hope's staff and board
Saturday, July 21 - Travel Day/Culture & Context: Participants joining Spark for the optional extension trip will fly to Livingstone to see Victoria Falls, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, and visit another organization serving vulnerable children; Participants not joining the extension trip will fly home (Most flights will arrive in the US on Sunday, July 22.)
Sunday, July 22 - Culture & Context: Come face to face with the amazing wildlife of Southern Africa with a safari in Botswana and spend the day with Hope staff that will share how issues like HIV/AIDS and illiteracy have affected their own lives
Monday, July 23 - Travel Day: Depart Zambia (Most flights will arrive in the US on Tuesday, July 24.)
