Spark Associate: North Park University
Check out a blog with pictures and stories from North Park’s most recent trip to Zambia.
North Park University, a Spark Associate, is an urban, Christian multicultural school on the north side of Chicago committed to preparing students for lives of significance and service. North Park’s University Ministries department sends students to Ndola, Zambia through Spark’s volunteer travel program. Twice a year, a group of 12-15 students spend two weeks learning and working with the staff and children of Hope Fellowship Ministries.
During their visit in May 2007, North Park students set up a temporary medical clinic for the orphanage and school children, treating over 200 kids for infection, worms and malaria. Nursing and pre-med students from North Park worked alongside of Zambian health professionals to provide this basic medical care. Students also worked with translators to write up profiles and take current photos for Spark’s sponsorships. The profiles included personal background information on the children attending Hope Community School. These profiles along with the pictures will be combined into sponsorship packages available to potential investors through the website.
