Phases

There are three phases to Spark’s partnership model. These phases do not correspond with a set schedule or specific budget, as each partner will vary in the amount of time and resources needed for long term success.

1. Stabilize

· Staff and leadership of both Spark and partner organization perform comprehensive assessment of current programs, services and financial status

· Critical needs are discovered and a strategic plan begins to form to adequately address those needs

· Spark contributes substantial financial resources from the New Partner Fund to strengthen and expand the partner organization

2. Strengthen

· Spark begins to actively invest resources in partner organization program and leadership development

· Spark raises awareness and support domestically

· Partnership Trip program begins

· Partnership Trip volunteers will have the opportunity to make a Follow-up Investment to the partner organization at the end of or following their trip experience.

·Spark Ventures will continue to provide a substantial investment from its New Partner Fund. However, Partnership Trips and Follow-up Investing will become a growing portion of the income/revenue for the partner.

3. Sustain

· Spark will invest in capital projects and local income generators that will provide growth and sustainability for the partner organization.

· Capital projects will be initially proposed by partner organizations or identified in collaboration with Spark Ventures and the partner organization will be responsible to develop a proposal defining the need, the response options, a budget and timeline.

· Spark will invest seed money and resources in the development of local income generators that will provide additional revenue for the partner organization.

· Sponsorships and Partnership Trips & follow up investment will grow to support more significant amounts of the operating budget for the partner organization. As this occurs, the Spark’s New Partner Fund investment will decrease to zero.
