Spark Goes Regional
Coming off the success of the Sustaining a Future Campaign, Spark took on its next challenge, to expand its reach in the United States to Madison, Wisconsin and Rockford, Illinois. “Madison Ignites a Spark” was the first Spark event in Wisconsin and was held at The Brink with two musical guests. The night was fun, laid back and had a showing of Spark’s “Partnerships that Empower” video as part of its presentation to raise awareness and support of its partnership work. The “Rockford Igniting Hope” was the second Spark event in Rockford (the first was in May 2008) and attendees socialized in a converted office space with pictures, statistics and stories of the hardships and hope of the people and children in Zambia. A short program included a video, words from Executive Director Rich Johnson and two North Park University students that attended the
January Transformation Trip to Zambia.
In total, over 60 people attended the two events and 15 children were sponsored! That means 15 children in Zambia will continue to receive food, education and basic medical care because of the $25/month sponsorship.
Spark intends to continue to explore regional events as part of our strategy to engage a wider group of investors in our mission to help vulnerable children achieve their potential. In the coming months, Spark’s partner, Hope Ministries of Zambia, will be launching a local poultry farm to produce income that will lead to financial independence. This is a large undertaking for both Spark and Hope and it will be instrumental for Spark to continue to engage new investors, volunteers and supporters in North America who will help us transform the lives of even more children.
If you would like to support Spark, here are some ways you can do that:
