On Thursday, November 12th, 275 supporters showed up at the Chicago Cultural Center for Spark's fall fundraising event, Spark Blue. $6,000 was raised from the silent auction featuring a mix of donated products like Cubs rooftop tickets, spa treatments, and a variety of African artwork brought back to the U.S. by Transformation Trip participants (masks, drums, paintings, and more).

All the funds raised from Spark Blue will go towards Spark's Sustaining a Future Campaign which aims to raise $150,000 from September 1, 2009 through February 28, 2010. These funds will provide the seed capital for a pig and poultry farm used to generate local revenues and help move Spark's partner Hope Ministries towards financial independence (see current campaign total). Spark's Executive Director, Rich Johnson, said, "We want to thank everyone who attended Spark Blue and helped create a memorable night. While we don’t yet know the final financial results of the evening, it is safe to say that many people caught Spark’s vision to help vulnerable children, and the event successfully raised money for the farming business in Zambia."
