Purchase Uniforms for a Child in Zambia
Did you know that 64% of Zambians live on less than $1.25 a day? It’s true. And this makes the most basic education expenses like school supplies, books, uniforms and shoes a luxury. Because of this, it is often the children that suffer. But you have the opportunity to change that.
From now through June 30, 2010 Spark is offering supporters the opportunity to “purchase” uniforms (in sets of two) for an unsponsored child in Zambia at Hope Community School for just $10. Why uniforms you may ask? Well firstly, uniforms help to provide both a quality learning environment and an element of dignity to the students. Uniforms are used in nearly all schools in Zambia, and wearing a uniform is commonly seen as an essential part of attending school with dignity.
Secondly, all the uniforms at Hope Community School are made with Zambian products by Zambian workers, meaning your purchase of uniforms is also a small but meaningful investment in the local economy and therefore supporting other families.
